Fourteen Ashland County educators receive mini-grants for innovative programs and projects

ASHLAND - Ashland City Schools Foundation and Ashland County Community Foundation have announced the recipients of their fall semester teacher mini-grants, according to a news release from the ACCF.

These mini-grants will allow 14 Ashland County educators to implement innovative programs and projects to advance student learning, both in and outside their classrooms, the release said.

According to the release, the grants totaled $5,141 from ACSF and $8,798 from ACCF.

The following teachers received grants from one or both foundations:

Ashland City Schools Foundation

  • Jessi Adams, Reagan Elementary School, received a grant for “Osmo for Elementary Computer Labs.”

  • Kristy Shearer, Ashland Middle School, received a grant for “Under Your Feet.”

  • Jarrod Vance, Ashland Middle School, received a grant for “Ashland County Challenge Course.”

Ashland City Schools Foundation and Ashland County Community Foundation

  • Sarah LeVeck, Ashland Middle School, received grants for “AMS Math Connections.”

Ashland County Community Foundation

  • Travis Beck, Taft Intermediate School, received a grant for “Interactive, Consumable, and Kid Friendly Social Studies.”

  • Steve Coffey, Mapleton Middle School, received a grant for “This Little Light of Mine (From Sun to the Table).”

  • Bethany Frazer, Ashland Christian School, received a grant for “ACS CodeMonkey Coding Competition.”

  • Dorene Johnson, Reagan Elementary School, received a grant for “Keeping Up with the News.”

  • Nicole Krieger, Taft Intermediate School, received a grant for “Learning With LEGO®.”

  • Andrew Lewellen, Hillsdale Middle School, received a grant for “Old Fashioned Quilting Bee (ARTSDREAM).”

  • Julie McDonnell, Taft Intermediate School, received a grant for “Data Measurement for Science.”

  • Linda Michael, Ashland Middle School, received a grant for “Building Science Literacy Through PBIS.”

  • Shelby Wynn, Mapleton Elementary School, received a grant for “LEGO® Inspire Engaged, Entertaining, Creative Writing (ARTSDREAM).”

  • Seth Youngen, Loudonville High School, received a grant for “Creating Code with TI-84+ Calculator, Hub and Rover.”

Ashland City Schools Foundation and Ashland County Community Foundation accepting applications

Ashland City Schools Foundation and Ashland County Community Foundation are ccepting applications for spring semester teacher mini-grants. Grant requests should be for programs and projects that are not covered by school budgets.

Any K-12 teacher from any school in Ashland County may apply online at www.ashlandforgood.org/grants by Jan. 8. Applicants from the Ashland City School district will be considered for ACSF grants, and all applicants will be considered for ACCF grants.
